Beechcraft Bonanza 33 Aircraft (Debonair / F33A)

← Beechcraft Bonanza family

The Beechcraft Bonanza 33 is the conventional straight-tail Bonanza — the same fuselage as the V-tail with a conventional empennage. Production ran 1960 to 1995, originally sold as the Beechcraft Debonair before being renamed Bonanza 33 in 1968. Cruise around 168 knots on a Continental IO-470/520/550. The F33A is generally considered the most refined and capable 33 — a sweet handler with full Bonanza speed and the option for an aerobatic-capable variant. The Debonair name refers to the early straight-tail models; today the same airframe lineage is one canonical 33.

Frequently Asked Questions — Beechcraft Bonanza 33

What are the Beechcraft Bonanza 33 models?
The straight-tail Model 33 line runs through the Debonair (1960-1967), then the E33, F33, F33A and G33 once it was unified under the Bonanza name in 1968. The F33A is the most refined and most common, with the larger IO-520/IO-550 engine.
What is the difference between the F33 and F33A?
The F33A is the higher-powered development of the F33, with a six-cylinder Continental IO-520 or IO-550 and a longer cabin. Both are straight-tail Bonanzas; the F33A is the more capable and sought-after of the two.
What is the difference between the straight-tail 33 and the V-tail 35?
The Model 33 uses a conventional straight tail; the Model 35 uses the distinctive V-tail (ruddervators). Performance is similar, but the 33 avoids the V-tail's tail-attachment and spar airworthiness directives and offers conventional handling.
How much does a Beechcraft Bonanza 33 cost?
Prices depend on variant (E33 through F33A/G33), engine time and avionics. See the live price range and median above.
Is the Beechcraft Bonanza F33A a good airplane?
It is widely regarded as one of the best-handling and best-built straight-tail singles, with strong resale. As with any Bonanza, value and safety depend on engine time, airworthiness-directive compliance and maintenance history.
