About the Socata Rallye

The Socata Rallye (originally Morane-Saulnier MS.880, continued by Socata) is a family of French fixed-gear light singles known for exceptional short-field/STOL performance and benign low-speed handling — the full-span leading-edge slats give the Rallye a famously docile stall and remarkable short-takeoff capability. Produced from the early 1960s through the 1990s in many variants (Rallye 100/150/180/235 and the Gaillard/Galérien/Galopin names) with engines from 100 to 235 hp, the Rallye served as a trainer, tourer, and a popular glider-tug across Europe. A distinctive, affordable classic with a loyal following, though parts and service support is European-centric.

Socata Rallye Price & Cost

How much does a Socata Rallye cost? Used Rallye prices: $7K – $39K, average $21K (median $23K), across 5 priced of 5 active listings.

Socata Rallye Price Guide

Key price factors: engine time to overhaul, year and airframe hours, avionics, damage history and logbook completeness — see the buying guide below for the full pre-purchase checklist.

Buying a Used Socata Rallye

When buying a Socata Rallye, the biggest value drivers are engine time since overhaul, maintenance-record completeness, damage history and avionics.

What to check before buying

  • Engine time to overhaul — hours and years remaining drive price more than total airframe time.
  • Logbook completeness — continuous, gap-free maintenance records protect value.
  • Damage history — any prior accident or incident; cross-check the registration against accident databases.
  • Avionics — a modern glass panel vs legacy steam gauges materially changes price.
  • Pre-buy inspection — always commission an independent inspection by a type-experienced mechanic before money changes hands.
