Socata TBM 900 Aircraft in Switzerland

Originally built by SOCATA, now part of Daher (TBM series).

Swiss-registered aircraft (HB- prefix) operate under FOCA (Swiss aviation authority) certification, EASA-aligned. Pilatus is Swiss — strong PC-12/PC-24 home market. Strict maintenance standards. GA hubs at Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Bern.

The Daher TBM 900 (2014-2016) and TBM 910 (2017-2018) represent the first major refinement of the modern TBM line — Garmin G1000 NXi avionics, single-lever power control (integrated propeller and engine), refined airframe with redesigned cowl for better cooling, larger cabin door, and ~330 kt cruise. The 910 was effectively a TBM 900 with avionics and equipment updates including ADS-B Out compliance from factory. Both share the PT6A-66D engine and the same fundamental airframe with the modernised systems. The 900/910 are the value-modern TBM segment — all modern features at materially lower acquisition cost than the 930/940/960.

Buying a Used Socata TBM 900

Buying a Socata TBM 900 comes down to a focused pre-purchase checklist — here is what matters most on this model:

What to check before buying

  • PT6A-66D engine program — Pratt & Whitney ESP enrollment standard; HSI/overhaul cycles dominate scheduled cost.
  • Single-lever power control — verify proper operation; this is a significant operational improvement that needs to be functioning correctly.
  • Garmin G1000 NXi software level — verify current revision and database currency.
  • Mandate compliance — ADS-B Out typically complete on 910; verify on 900.
  • Cabin refurb status — TBM 900/910 cabins age well but verify upholstery, headliner and carpet condition.
  • Service history — TBM Care service centre records are the canonical maintenance documentation.

Which 900/910? A TBM 910 with ESP-enrolled engine, current mandates and recent cabin refurb is the practical buy. The 900 offers comparable capability at materially lower cost when properly mandate-equipped.
