Socata TBM 940 Aircraft

Originally built by SOCATA, now part of Daher (TBM series).

The Daher TBM 940 (2019-2022) is the modern Daher TBM flagship that introduced HomeSafe Autoland — the world's first single-engine production aircraft with autonomous landing capability. If the pilot becomes incapacitated, a passenger can activate Autoland via the large red button on the overhead panel; the system autonomously navigates to the nearest suitable airport, manages ATC communications, performs the approach and landing, and shuts down on the runway. Combined with Garmin G3000 NXi avionics, E-copilot (electronic stability and protection), and the proven PT6A-66D turbine, the 940 represents the safest single-engine turboprop ever certified. Production ran 2019-2022 before being superseded by the TBM 960.

Buying a Used Socata TBM 940

Buying a Socata TBM 940 comes down to a focused pre-purchase checklist — here is what matters most on this model:

What to check before buying

  • HomeSafe Autoland system — verify Autoland functionality on pre-buy; test the system per Daher procedure; confirm software revision is current and any service bulletins addressed.
  • E-copilot stability protection — verify operational status.
  • PT6A-66D engine program — Pratt & Whitney ESP enrollment standard; given young airframe ages, most 940s are still on factory engine programs.
  • Garmin G3000 NXi software — verify current revision and database currency.
  • Mandate compliance — comprehensive on these near-new aircraft.
  • Cabin refurb — early 940s now ~5+ years old; verify cabin condition.

Which 940? All 940s share the same fundamental equipment; focus pre-buy on engine status, software currency and Autoland functionality.
