Description
Based on my research, the helicopter was most likely originally purchased new in the UK and flown to approximately 450 hours, followed by brief operation in Sri Lanka (~100 hours) before being transferred to the USA. Since then, the aircraft has been under my ownership, without a long chain of subsequent owners. The aircraft has approximately 1,270 hours since new. The remaining ~930 hours until overhaul are limited to Part 91 operations (tours, instruction, and private flying), as the helicopter has not undergone a Time Overhaul, while time-critical components have been continuously replaced throughout its service life. The estimated market value of comparable Robinson R44 Raven II aircraft is around USD 340,000, based on market data and listings analyzed by Controller. The aircraft is offered at USD 315,000, a price level that directly reflects the Part 91 operational limitation for the remaining hours. Reasonable price offers are welcome. It is widely recognized that overall performance is a key criterion when selecting an R44. In this case, performance is above average, with consistently positive pilot feedback regarding power margins and responsiveness. Recent investment includes: •Main and tail rotor blades replaced in 2021 •Tail rotor gearbox replaced in 2025 (Robinson factory recall) •Upgraded exhaust system, contributing to strong performance •LED navigation and landing lights The helicopter is clean, well maintained, and flies very well. Documentation: Engine and airframe logbooks are available from Sri Lanka Air onward as PDFs. Original UK logbook entries covering the first ~450 hours exist but are not yet scanned. A solid, well-maintained R44 with transparent disclosures, major components already addressed, strong performance characteristics, and pricing aligned with current market conditions.
About the Robinson R44 Raven II
The Robinson R44 Raven II is the fuel-injected flagship of the R44 family, introduced in July 2002. Its Lycoming IO-540-AE1A5 engine produces 245 hp and removes the carburetor-heat and mixture management of earlier R44s, giving noticeably better hot-and-high performance.
With four seats, a 2,500 lb gross weight, hydraulically boosted controls and a 130-knot maximum speed, the Raven II is the best-selling piston helicopter in the world and a mainstay of private ownership, flight training and light utility work. It remains in production today, and used examples typically sell between $200,000 and $650,000 depending on year, hours and avionics.
Buy it if you want the newest systems, the strongest altitude performance and the best resale value; look at the Raven I instead if budget is the priority and you fly mostly at lower altitudes.
Produced 2002.
