Description
1964 172E VFR/IFR trainer with 25 SMOH engine, 5326 TT, GTN 650/430 (non-WAAS). Interior completely replaced except for seats. Based in Crossville, Tennessee.
Engine
Continental O-300D. Engine overhauled by Don George Aircraft out of Florida. Crank and cases both came back as meeting specs so those were reused. Engine has been run for 25 hours since installation and mineral oil has been replaced with conventional oil with no metal noted. Engine also has a remote oil cooler; see photos. Generator was removed 2018 and replaced with an alternator. Has the MOGAS STC but I've never bothered using it.
Propeller
Very straight and true airframe. I purchased it from an American Airlines Captain who purchased it from an A P/IA who owned it for about 25 years and took exceptional care of it. 39 gallons usable total fuel at 8 gph (conservative).
Interior
Selkirk interior plastics installed in 2019 along with a new headliner and new carpet. New upper stationary panel and lower stationary panels were installed in the last couple of years; when the lower was installed we also replaced all the fuses. The only thing we have not done to the interior is replace the seats. Don't know when it was last painted (originally it was White and Red with Gold accents) but the paint is a solid 8. It needs a good wash and wax in the photos (ran out of time) but will still polish nicely. There is one spot of hangar rash but they are on the plastic end caps so we never bothered to fix it. Been that way for about 6 years and we haven't noticed any sort of issue with it.
