Cessna Citation CJ2+ Aircraft (525A / CitationJet)

The Citation CJ2+ (Model 525A) is a factory upgrade of the CJ2 — the same 525A airframe, but with more powerful Williams FJ44-3A-24 engines, FADEC engine control, and increased range over the base CJ2. Produced from 2006 to about 2014, it occupies the middle of the CJ line — more cabin and range than the CJ1, less than the CJ3.

What «+» adds over the CJ2: The core upgrades are the FJ44-3A-24 engine (more thrust than the CJ2's FJ44-2C) and FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control), which simplifies power management and reduces single-pilot workload; NBAA IFR range rises accordingly. Both the CJ2 and CJ2+ use Collins Pro Line 21 avionics, so the «+» is an engine-and-systems upgrade rather than an avionics-brand change — the CJ2+ also made items such as TCAS and TAWS standard.

Engine: Williams FJ44-3A-24 with FADEC — confirm engine variant and maintenance-program status as the primary ownership cost variable.

Single-pilot certified: The CJ2+ carries single-pilot type certification. Confirm single-pilot recurrent-training requirements and currency for any specific aircraft.

CJ2 versus CJ2+: If the base CJ2's FJ44-2C engines meet your needs, the CJ2 can offer similar cabin at lower acquisition cost. The CJ2+ is appropriate when the FADEC engines and added range justify the premium — or when a specific CJ2+ example is priced competitively against available CJ2s.
