Beechcraft King Air F90 Aircraft in Virginia
← Beechcraft King Air 90 family
The Beechcraft King Air F90 is a compact, high-performance variant of the King Air 90 series that bridged the gap between the C90 and the larger 200. Powered by two Pratt and Whitney PT6A-135 engines (750 SHP each flat-rated to 550 SHP), the F90 uses the King Air 200 T-tail and larger wing mated to the 90-series fuselage. It cruises at 280 KTAS with a range of 1,386 nm — faster than a standard C90 and approaching 200-series performance. Produced from 1979 to 1985, approximately 203 were built.
The F90-1 (1983-1985) improved the engine to PT6A-135A with better hot section durability. The F90 is often overlooked in favor of the more numerous C90 and B200, but knowledgeable buyers recognize it as a hidden gem — 200-class speed in a 90-class operating cost envelope.
Buying advice. PT6A-135 engine maintenance follows standard PT6 protocols. The T-tail configuration requires awareness of deep stall characteristics (same as the 200/350). Check for wing spar strap compliance, landing gear actuator condition, and pressurization system integrity. The F90 shares many parts with both the 90 and 200 series, providing good parts availability.
Market. King Air F90: $500,000-$1M. F90-1: $600,000-$1.2M. A Beechcraft King Air F90 for sale offers turboprop twin performance at a significant discount to the B200.

Buying a Used Beechcraft King Air F90
Buying a Beechcraft King Air F90 centres on its turbine engine(s) — time to overhaul, hot-section history and any engine maintenance program — alongside airframe hours and cycles.
What to check before buying
- Turbine engine status — hot-section and overhaul time, trend monitoring and whether the engine is on a maintenance program.
- Airframe hours & cycles — high-utilisation turboprops accumulate cycles quickly; cycles can matter more than hours.
- Equipment — cargo pod, floats/amphibian gear, de-ice and avionics all affect value.
- Corrosion & logbooks — continuous records and a corrosion inspection, especially on float or marine-operated aircraft.
- Pre-buy inspection — commission an independent pre-buy by a type-experienced shop.
