Rutan Varieze G-LASS. £20,750 Now SOLD Thanks to afors I have owned this amazing aircraft for 22 years but I have very reluctantly decided to hang up the proverbial headset and goggles. The aircraft is based at Sleap (EGCV) and has always been hangared and very well maintained and cared for by myself. It has been flown to France, Channel Isles, Scilly Isles Scotland and especially (our favourite) Cornwall many times. Although this was the first Varieze built in the UK back in 1979 (by the renowned Rutan aircraft builder Don Foreman) it has been completely updated and extensively modified over the years. 19 LPH @160 mph 5000' / Climb rate 980 ft/min @ MAUW and the engine never overheat in the climb, even during a prolonged climb at higher OAT's. General Specification. Total airframe hours 1280 (around 850 of these by myself) RR Continental 0-200 (modified) engine around 80 hrs since MOH Permit to Fly valid to Feb 2023 MAUW increased to 530kg Approved wing fences fitted to improve aerodynamic efficiency even further, particularly take off / landings.. All main crankcase threads were fitted with durable thread inserts. All crankshaft mains and big ends journals are standard size with (of course) new bearings. Millennium cylinders fitted with C85 higher compression pistons.. 1 x Surefly FAA / LAA approved electronic ignition fitted. (2020). Remaining Slick impulse magneto was also overhauled by Nicholson McLaren when an electronic ign was fitted. Sky-Tec lightweight starter system (2020) with new uprated Odyssey Extreme battery (2020) B&C lightweight 30 amp with latest solid-state rectifier. 8 new plugs recently fitted (Permit) New nose wheel tyre recently fitted (Permit) Stainless steel exhaust system. MGL X Treme mini EFIs with RDAC XF Red Cube fuel flow system. Dynon D10A with a remote compass and internal battery backup. Garmin 495 Garmin Xponder with Mode C Trig TY91 8.33 MHz Updated Pilotaware Hercules 59 x 71 Prop Wilhelmson nose wheel assembly Fitted lightweight showerproof / UV aircraft cover Powerful LED nose-mounted landing light. Audible + LED warnings for nose gear & canopy Relatively new TRS Racing 4 point seat belts Optional extras (estimated value over £3500) include - Dynon SV32 Auto-Pilot complete kit (plug and play) Spare (good) Slick impulse Magneto Spare (good) B&T 56 x 69 prop Composite / wood-lined + dry Varieze Trailer / Hangar which is very towable.
