Description
The second aircraft, but by no means any less impressive. G-BOLE boasts acceptable engine hours and calendar life, making it suitable for a flight training organisation, hour building, or private use.
Wilco Aviation proudly presents an exclusive listing for a Piper PA38 Tomahawk, currently owned and operated by an approved training organisation in the North West of England.
The Piper PA38 Tomahawk is a single-engine, low-wing cantilever monoplane featuring a distinctive T-tail and an enclosed cabin designed for two occupants. It is equipped with fixed tricycle landing gear and is powered by a Lycoming O-235 four-cylinder piston engine, paired with a twin-bladed tractor propeller. Cabin access is provided through two front-hinged doors.
Piper developed the Tomahawk to meet the demand for an affordable, two-seat trainer. Before designing the aircraft, Piper conducted extensive surveys of flight instructors to gather their input. Instructors wanted a more spin-capable aircraft for training, as other trainers like the Cessna 150 and 152 were designed to naturally recover from spins. To address this need, the Tomahawk’s NASA GA(W)-1 Whitcomb airfoil design requires specific pilot input for spin recovery, thereby enhancing pilot proficiency.
All applicable Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins (SBs) have been addressed. Full logs and records are available for inspection.
