SOLD For sale is a 1999 R44 Astro. This ship had a major over speed and has the blades and engine removed. Please note that the blades are unairworthy due to the over speed, but are included in the sale. The engine has already been pulled out, and is not part of the sale. The radio, transponder, GPS and all instrument (IFR) gages(HSI, attitude indicator, turn coordinator) will be removed from the aircraft prior to the sale. Please note that this helicopter has no engine and will not come with an engine. There will more than likely be random pieces of this aircraft missing, the seller or broker is NOT responsible for any missing parts. This ship is being sold as is where is with no warranties expressed or implied. Pre buy inspections are encouraged before money is exchanged. There is an option to buy the helicopter exactly as it sits with all radios, transponder and GPS for the price of $40,000. Delivery is available at $1.50 per mile round trip. About the Robinson R44 Astro
The Robinson R44 Astro was the original production R44, FAA type-certificated in December 1992 with first deliveries in 1993. It introduced Robinson's four-seat piston design with a carbureted Lycoming O-540 of 225 hp but, unlike later Ravens, did not have hydraulically boosted controls.
Produced until about 2000 when it was superseded by the Raven I, the Astro is now the most affordable way into R44 ownership — used examples typically sell between $50,000 and $150,000 — though buyers should weigh heavier control forces and the cost of any overdue 2,200-hour / 12-year overhaul.
Buy it if entry price is the single priority; step up to a Raven if you want more modern systems and stronger resale.
