The new generation Diamond DA42 NG Twin Star is a truly modern light twin. Thanks to its lower operating cost, the DA42 has largely taken over the European professional pilot training market from Piper Senecas and similar “gas guzzlers”. It is TKS anti-ice equipped and thus makes year-round IFR possible. The NG version with its 168 hp Austro engines is much more performant than the original Thielert equipped versions. Garmin G1000 glass cockpit comes as standard, of course. Furthermore the “dash six” has several performance improvements over the original NG model and ours is even equipped with the Garmin weather radar and air conditioning!
