Description

Lancair 235, SN 198, year 1987, no instrumentation. Not airworthy, kit is 100% complete, no parts missing, progress ca. 80%, needs rest of workload according Lancair manual, all composite works are finished. Built under EAS environment & supervision, means seamless documentation. This beauty has been built by a EASA licensed mechanic. Weighing data available. Timeline : • 1987 – Kit ordered. • 1989 – First owner (Composite Tecnica) began work. • 1998 – Second owner purchased the kit. o All structural composite work contracted to Composite Tecnica. o Structural load test of the wings completed and certified by EAS. o All related company invoices and EAS work reports available. • Early 2000s – Project paused. • 2012 – Project taken over by sussessor o At takeover, all major composite shell bonding was completed. o Carry out of the extensive trimming and surface finishing work on the composite structures. o Detailed current progress is available in the document “Lancair 235 (Experimental) – Current Build Status”. Key Particularities • All structural and composite work has been carried out exclusively by professionals: o Composite Tecnica (specialized composite company) for the initial build and structural tasks. o EASA B1 licensed aircraft engineer, for subsequent work. • This is not a typical amateur/hobbyist setting – the aircraft has been professionally managed from the start. Details : Fuselage, canopy with front opening, wings with extended range fuel tank, complete new hydraulic kit, upgraded landing gear, all the original lancair kit hardware perts, pushrods and rudder wires, flight controls, cockpit panel in aluminium, front tank, brakes and lines, reinforced engine mount (for 235 or 320 engine), firewall, el. variable pitch 3 blades MT propeller (for lycoming 235 or 320), el. flap actuator, mechanical trim, upgraded rudder pedals. This Lancair has been built by a EASA B1 certified aircraft maintenance engineer, stopped working on it slightly after Covid. What is left to do in order to make it fly: Landing gear: Installation of the landing gear hydraulic pump (brand new, bought from the states a few years ago) final rigging of the landing gear doors, (all the hydraulic hoses, and lines are in place and installed, including the emergency landing gear lever, also all the hydraulic actuators has been overhauled with new seals) Flight controls: all flight controls have been filled up in the dedicated space with lead so they are ready to be balanced once painted, all the pushrods and rudder wire has been once installed to check proper movement and then removed again. Paint: the interior and the inside of the landing gear bays have been painted with hydraulic fluid paint resistant, the color is light grey. All the exterior with the only exception of the lending gear doors are on primer with three layers, so we were sure that the primer socket into the frame glass properly to seal all the microscopic gaps, before painting the next owner will need to sand off half of it, will notice when the next layer is coming because change between each layer the type of grey. Composite: all the composite work of this aircraft has been done, so this mean that the most time consuming part and the most critical part has been completed, well below the average weight of the other Lancair in the forum, closed the gaps with Aviation epoxy mixed with micro balloons and thixotropic, less weight and better bonding, it won’t make cracks during time because it’s exactly the same material of the rest of the aircraft. Avionics: flat aluminum cockpit panel in order to have more freedom to accommodate whatever type of modern avionics and to save weight as well, the aluminum sheet I used is the one used in the FA 18. For the weighting, we bought it all day analogic instruments, and we put them over the seats and steel was lighter than other Lancairs, so if the new owner will opt for glass cockpit will save further weight and probably will need to put the battery behind the seats where the hydraulic pump is in order to make it more tail heavy, especially if he will choose a 320 engine instead of a 235. Firewall forward: the engine mount has been installed and also the firewall Inox part with the anti fire heat resistant material, the nose landing gear attachment has been reinforced accordingly to the bulletin. Borrowed an engine to make the proper alignment between the cowling and the propeller spinner. All the turn buckles off the cowling have been installed. The new owner will need to cut out the fresh air inlet and the exhaust space accordingly to the engine he will choose. Where is as is, indicated price is in Swiss Francs
