About the Diamond DA20 Katana
The Diamond Katana is the two-seat composite trainer that established Diamond's composite-construction reputation. It is sold under two designations for the same fundamental aircraft: **DV20** (European/original, Rotax 912 engine) and **DA20** (North American, with the DA20-A1 on Rotax and the volume DA20-C1 "Eclipse" on the Continental IO-240). Composite airframe, distinctive bubble canopy with excellent visibility, ~135 kt cruise on the DA20-C1, and very low operating cost made the Katana a popular primary trainer and economical two-seat owner aircraft. The DA20-C1 in particular is a fixture at US flight schools.
