For sale is a 1947 piper j3 clip wing cub. logs since new w/5132 TT and approx. 100 since resto. Plane has won awards in Oshkosh and Sun n fun. It was painted to replicate Hazel Sigs plane she once flew. It has her signature on door while visiting her before she passed at 103! It is a certified aircraft with metal spars, field approved. has a completely fresh with new cylinders Continental C-90-8 nonelectric. it was restored 3 yrs ago with almost all new parts. When plane was received the fuselage appeared to have been completely rebuilt. There is a document included. Nothing was spared during restoration. Upgrades include, MT prop, Acme struts, Cleveland style ABW 6x6 with high pressure master cylinders, sealed (clip wing) PMA lift struts, wing tanks each side, carbon floorboards, 8.50 smooth tires, dual impulse mags. almost all parts are new including, front fuel tank, all the tail surfaces (NO RUDDER AD), instruments from Keystone, wheels, brakes, fabric, glass, NEW METAL NOSE COWLING not fiberglass, stainless firewall, tail wheel, tail wires, all the jack screw assy, cables, Dakota style trim, fuel valves and the list goes on. Plane has an external com antenna for a handheld to work with and does very well. 406 ELT. Firewall forward, nothing was spared. Has a ray jay vent can that keeps belly clean. New oil pump and machined rear case so the oil pressure is good. New exhaust, mags, eyebrows, Steves gascolator. Never has had hard aerobatics done with plane and has been hangered. As you see in the parts list, with the initial 15,000-dollar project there is about $86,000 in parts alone. that's before ther recent aircraft spruce and other places having huge increases in price. if you had this plane done at our shop, it took 790 hrs. at $75 per hour, that's 59,000 in labor. before you start the whole (you can't get your time back argument) go build one,,, find an equal, or get an older lesser plane and convince yourself they are the same. Most planes that have this spent on them are not for sale. i am letting this one go as I have other projects to do and customers planes. being offered at $90,000 delivered

About the Piper J-3 Cub

The Piper J-3 Cub is the iconic 1930s-40s yellow taildragger that taught more pilots than any other aircraft of its era. A simple, two-seat tube-and-fabric trainer (rear-pilot seat, in the back), it cruises around 75 knots on a small Continental A-65 engine and is one of the most beloved aircraft in aviation history. The J-3 is a flying classic: limited capability by modern standards, but the experience of flying a Cub from the back seat with the door open is unmatched.

Produced 1937–1947.
