Description

Our Beagle Pup 150 G-AXIE is SOLD. We bought “India Echo” back in 2006, our first aircraft. We wanted an aeroplane that was safe, versatile, reliable and easy to use. She's been all over Europe whilst in our care, and has delighted the kids with some gentle aerobatics. She's an enduring British classic who attracts some interest wherever she goes. After 14 years she was regrettably back on the market as our family of 5 are demanding something bigger for us all to go on trips together. The aircraft has the coveted “long range” tanks giving the aircraft a 160 litre capacity for extended touring. We replaced the original Dunlops with the more effective Cleveland brake kit which has the added benefit of lowering maintenance costs. Other recent improvements include a new LED beacon, a replacement sealed battery and a new alternator in 2019. G-AXIE is IFR equipped, including dual VOR/ILS, ADF and DME. I trained and qualified for my IR(R) and Night Rating in her, and the previous owner gained his full Instrument Rating in the aircraft. Following a refurbishment in 2020, she has immaculate tan leather upholstery throughout with blue trim and carpet, making for a luxurious ride whatever the season. As if the view from a Pup was not good enough, a new windscreen was installed in summer 2019 including a Direct Vision panel. A smooth tan leather throughout, with blue carpets and trim – it looks just great. Plenty of space for some luggage. We have toured down as far as Avignon for a friend's wedding, along with camping trips up the map to Fair Isle just beyond the Orkneys. The “fighter” style stick and throttle arrangement, four-point harnesses in the front, along with the legendary crisp handling of the Pup makes for huge grins when you get up there. The adjustable rudder pedals and reclining seats comfortably accommodate everyone from our 7 year old son to me at 6ft6″. EQUIPMENT The previous owner did a great job rebuilding the entire panel to make it fully equipped for completing his Instrument Rating. At the same time, the audio panel was upgraded to the Garmin GMA 340. This modern digital audio panel has made an incredible difference to the audio in the cockpit, and gives better flexibility when you have passengers who want to chat while you need to talk to ATC. With dual altimeters, the ADF, DME, dual VOR/ILS and internal power and antenna connection for a handheld GPS, the aircraft has been a perfect tourer with us making memorable trips across Europe and up to the Scottish Islands. The instrumentation includes Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) and Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) gauges which really allows you to care for the engine and optimise range and fuel burn by leaning accurately.
