GRUMMAN AA5 G-BAJN – COMPLETE AIRCRAFT FOR PARTS OR RESTORATION 1972 Grumman AA5 located at Perth Airport, Scotland. Unfortunately, during the current annual inspection, significant corrosion issues were identified, including corrosion within the centre carry-through spar and both wing spar structures. Combined with a growing list of additional defects, increasing costs and difficulties sourcing parts, I have reluctantly decided not to continue with the aircraft. The aircraft flew into Perth under its own power for the annual inspection, and the findings were identified during the subsequent inspection and strip-down. This was not an aircraft that had been laid up for years, which makes the outcome all the more disappointing. The aircraft is therefore offered as a complete aircraft for parts or as the basis of a restoration project. Key details: Airframe: approx. 4,143 hours Lycoming O-320-E2G engine, approx. 897 hours since overhaul McCauley 1C172SBTM7359 fixed-pitch propeller (S/N APJ44006), 312 hours Well-equipped instrument panel including Garmin GNS430, Icom IC-A220 COM radio and Trig TT31 Mode S transponder Aircraft substantially complete Known issues include: Centre carry-through spar corrosion Wing spar corrosion Engine requires overhaul/rectification before further use One magneto requires replacement (service life cannot be verified) Additional airframe, engine and system defects identified during the annual inspection The aircraft has been loosely reassembled for storage. Wings and horizontal stabiliser can be removed again for transport if required. The only major component already spoken for is the flap torque tube. Other than that, the aircraft is being offered substantially complete. A comprehensive Google Drive document pack is available for genuinely interested parties, including: Aircraft and engine logbooks Maintenance records Annual inspection findings Detailed defect list Extensive photographs, including corrosion and strip-down images Location: Perth Airport, Scotland Collection required My strong preference is to sell the aircraft complete due to logistics. However, if a complete sale cannot be achieved, I would be interested in hearing from anyone seeking major components. Please get in touch for further information or access to the full document pack.
